Seven local teams earn nods on CIF preseason football rankings

The CIF Southern Section released the first preseason football polls of the 2017 season Monday, listing the top-10 teams in 13 divisions.

Local teams were well-represented, with seven of the area’s 11 11-man programs earning a nod. Leading the way is Edison, which is ranked No. 1 in Division 2. Corona del Mar is third in Division 4, Newport Harbor is No. 2 in Division 6 and Huntington Beach is No. 6 in Division 7. In Division 12, Marina comes in at No. 5 and Laguna Beach is No. 10. Ocean View rounds out the locals with a No.-9 ranking in Division 13.
