IRVINE – Kennedy Mulvaney had four goals, including the game-winner with nine seconds left, to lift the visiting Sea Kings on Wednesday.

Jensen Coop, Ellen Amdor and Jocelyn Simaan had two goals apiece for the winners (4-2), for whom Ashley Olson had five saves.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Costa Mesa 108, Saddleback 50

SANTA ANA — Augie Cunningham won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events for Mesa in Wednesday’s Orange Coast League opener on the road.

Cunningham touched in 1 minute, 57.30 seconds and 5:16.08, respectively.

Aidan Blair won the 100 butterfly in 55 seconds and the 100 backstroke (1:00.09) for Mesa. The Mustangs also swept the 50 freestyle with Jacob Petersen (23.32), Nick Ly (23.38) and Grant Christensen (24.81).

Ly won the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.88, and Misael Andino won the 100 freestyle in 50.96. The 200 medley relay of Blair, Ly, Andino and Petersen was first in 1:49.15.

Costa Mesa swims at home against Katella on Friday.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Costa Mesa 110, Saddleback 51

SANTA ANA — The Mustangs swept the top three spots in three individual events in Wednesday’s Orange Coast League opener on the road.

Lauren Kiefer (2 minutes, 16.21 seconds), Sofia Rice (2:20.17) and Marissa Castro (2:41.97) swept the 200 free. Alyssa LeCours (28.80), Kaylie Tickenoff (29.17) and Sarah Catania (29.50) swept the 50 free, and Kiefer (6:04.38), LeCours (6:21.81) and Liz Vaidhayakul (6.51:88) swept the 500 free.

Kendra Ferguson won the 100 freestyle for Mesa in 1:03.38, and Cialee Enslow won the 100 butterfly in 1:20.01. The Mustangs also won the 200 medley relay in 2:18.88, a team featuring Ferguson, Tickenoff, Enslow and Kiefer.

SOFTBALL

La Quinta 14, Costa Mesa 4

Christie Trinh and Kayla Garcia each drove in three runs for the Aztecs (8-2), who scored 12 runs over the final two innings in the nonleague game on Wednesday.

Brenna Alvis went three for three with a double for the Mustangs (2-7).

Costa Mesa has lost five in a row. Three of those games have been against opponents from the Garden Grove League.

The Mustangs will face Santa Ana (0-7) on Thursday at 3:15 p.m.
