Preston Grand Pre, a Laguna Beach High graduate who played three seasons at Cal, was drafted in the 24th round (No. 730 overall) by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the MLB Draft last week.

Grand Pre, a 6-foot-4, 175-pounder, hit .325 in 24 games for the Golden Bears this season. He had one home run, 11 RBIs and five stolen bases.

He missed the first half of the season with a broken hand, playing primarily second base and some shortstop.

Grand Pre batted .405 with 45 hits, one homer, 23 RBIs and 35 stolen bases as a senior for the Breakers in 2014. He was also 3-0 with two saves and a 0.99 ERA in 28 1/3 innings on the mound in his final high school season.
