Breakdown: Newport Harbor and Corona del Mar square off in the 57th annual Battle of the Bay rivalry game, with CdM as the designated home team in the Sunset League clash … The Sea Kings (6-1-1, 2-0-1 in league) have won five straight Battle of the Bay games for the first time in series history, though Newport Harbor (3-4-1, 0-3) leads the series 38-18 … CdM, ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division 4, is coming off a 7-7 tie with Los Alamitos after the teams agreed not to complete their showdown, which was postponed with 59 seconds left in the first quarter on Oct. 12 at Cerritos College due to lightning. The Sea Kings and Griffins share first place in the league … The tie against Los Alamitos snapped a 32-game league winning streak for CdM, which won six straight undefeated Pacific Coast League titles before moving to the Sunset League … Lavin has settled in as quarterback for the fifth-place Sailors since making his first start on Sept. 14 against Santa Monica.
