Ex-Pirate Whitaker finds football home

Record-setting Orange Coast College quarterback Kody Whitaker will continue his football career at Henderson State University in Arkansas, he announced this week.

Whitaker, who earned second-team All-Southern Conference honors in 2016 and 2014, completed 158 of 287 passes for 1,986 yards and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2016. He owns OCC career records for passing yards (4,079), touchdown passes (32), completions (333) and attempts (601).

Henderson State is an NCAA Division II school in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The Reddies were 8-3 and finished third in the 12-team Great American Conference last season.
