Team USA Junior men move to quarterfinals

Alex Wolf made 10 saves and fellow Huntington Beach High alumnus Quinten Osborne scored twice as the U.S. men’s junior national water polo team beat Canada, 14-4, on Thursday at the FINA Junior World Championships.

With the victory, Team USA moves on to meet Croatia in the quarterfinals at 9 a.m. Pacific time Friday. The game will stream live on the Water Polo Serbia Facebook page.

Jake Cavano, who will be a senior at Huntington Beach High, scored a goal Thursday for the winners, who improved to 4-1 in the tournament. Team USA, coached by Gavin Arroyo, also includes Cal-bound Oilers graduate Ethan Wojciechowski.

Johnny Hooper led the team against Canada with four goals. Orange Lutheran High incoming seniors Ash Molthen and Hannes Daube each scored twice.
