Man seriously injured when Jaguar crashes on 73 Freeway in Newport Beach

A man was hospitalized with serious injuries after a Jaguar sports car crashed on the 73 Freeway in Newport Beach early Sunday, authorities said.

Newport Beach police received a 911 call at 1:50 a.m. about a crash involving a car traveling north on the 73 near the Newport Coast Drive ramp, authorities said.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to a hospital, according to an OnSceneTV report.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
