Man arrested in thefts of headphones, trash can and bicycle

Newport Beach police arrested a man Wednesday on suspicion of stealing boxes of headphones, a trash can and a bicycle.

Police responded to a report of an alarm sounding at a RadioShack at 2700 W. Coast Hwy. at about 3a.m.

Officers searched the building and found that several boxes of headphones were missing from the store, police said.

An officer walked to a nearby greenbelt and saw a man sitting next to a bicycle with boxes of headphones in a trash can next to him, police said.

According to police, the man admitted to stealing the headphones from the RadioShack and to stealing the bicycle from a Costa Mesa bike shop a week earlier and the trash can from a post office.

Rodney Salazar, 26, of Lake Forest was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary and theft of property from a U.S. post office, police said.
