The Coast Community College District appointed a new president for Golden West College in Huntington Beach on Wednesday, naming Tim McGrath to replace Wes Bryan, who plans to retire in June.

McGrath has been serving as vice president of instruction at San Diego Mesa College.

Bryan was appointed Golden West’s president in December 2004 after serving as vice president of instruction and as a speech communication instructor for more than 20 years.

“Tim McGrath is an experienced leader who brings a strong record of innovation to Golden West College,” Coast Community College District Chancellor John Weispfenning said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to having Tim as a member of our leadership team.”

McGrath said in a statement that he’s “honored to join the Golden West College community and to have this new opportunity.

“The college … has a long history of success, and the pride that faculty and staff have in helping students succeed is well-known throughout the region.”
