Local church representatives gather to support LGBTQ community ahead of Supreme Court hearing

Share

Local Christian church leaders gathered in downtown Santa Ana on Sunday in support of the LGBTQ Orange County community as a case surrounding a wedding cake heads to the United States Supreme Court.

The court is set to hear arguments in a case that made headlines after a gay couple entered a cake shop in a Denver suburb in 2012 and were told the bakery would not fulfill an order for a same-sex wedding.

About 50 people and nine members of clergy participated in “Let Justice Eat Cake,” an event O.C. faith community leaders organized to show solidarity as case Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission will be heard beginning Tuesday.
