Glendale Adventist Medical Center hosts holiday party for young therapy patients

Glendale Adventist Medical Center hosted a holiday celebration this week for children and teens who receive therapy at its Play to Learn Center in Eagle Rock.

At the center, young people with special needs receive services such as speech, physical and occupational therapy, with many of them affected by genetic syndromes, sensory deficits or cerebral palsy.

The center had never held a holiday party before, according to its manager, Traci Jones Martinez.

But that changed with help from Allen G. Nazarian, musical director of the Beverly Hills-based Allen G. Orchestra.

It was a packed room where Santa Claus made an early appearance during the Glendale Adventist Medical Center-sponsored Christmas party at the Play to Learn Center in Eagle Rock on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015.

Nazarian often directs his orchestra and singers at high-end corporate or wedding events, and his 20-member team has performed many times for staff at Glendale Adventist Medical Center.

This year, he inquired about performing for children.

“We want to do something for the kids because we constantly come here and we do things for the doctors and the adults,” Nazarian said.

While the space was too small to fit the entire orchestra, the singers performed holiday songs for the children and teens at the party.
