Glendale police arrested three people on suspicion of driving under the influence during a grant-funded saturation patrol conducted Friday night, police said.

From 6:30 p.m. Friday to 2:30 a.m. Saturday, extra officers were on patrol looking for drunk or drugged drivers, said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

During the operation, 32 drivers were stopped, six of which underwent field sobriety tests. Of those, three were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Meanwhile, one person was arrested for reckless driving, another for possessing marijuana, and two for having outstanding traffic warrants for their arrests, Lightfoot said.

The operation was funded by a $440,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety that will allow Glendale police to conduct 44 traffic and pedestrian-safety enforcement operations, along with training and outreach programs, over the next year.
