Glendale school officials are looking to fill five open seats on the Superintendent’s Facility Advisory Committee, the group responsible for weighing in on Measure S bond funded projects and other school facility improvements before their recommendations for upgrades go to the School Board for final approval.

The advisory committee can have a maximum of nine members, and each member must commit to serving on the committee for two years, but can potentially serve longer.

Among the committee’s duties is to offer input on prioritizing projects for upgrades and reviewing options for maximizing state and federal funds to match the school district’s dollars. The group meets twice a month on Mondays.

Glendale Unified Supt. Winfred Roberson Jr. said the committee plays an important role in the district.

“Community involvement and fiscal transparency are some of the core values of our Measure S construction program,” he said in a statement. “Community involvement in the decision-making process helps the [Glendale Unified School Board] ensure that all tax monies are used to provide the best benefit to our students.”

Candidates to serve on the committee must reside in Glendale Unified’s boundaries.

The deadline to apply is July 12, and the application is available online at gusd.net under the sub headline SFAC Open Recruitment.
