A 71-year-old man was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening in La Crescenta.

Glendale police said the Los Angeles resident was crossing the middle of the street near Montrose and Liberty avenues around 8 p.m. when a car struck him. The man was not walking in a marked crosswalk, authorities said.

He suffered a head injury and was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena for treatment. The man is in critical condition but is expected to survive, according to Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

Lightfoot said it’s not believed that the driver, a 21-year-old man, was impaired nor was speed a factor in the crash.

The driver remained at the scene and waited for emergency personnel.
