Unemployment rate dips slightly with 14,300 jobs added in L.A. County

Unemployment rates declined slightly last month in Glendale and Burbank, with trade, transportation and utilities adding 14,300 jobs in Los Angeles County, according to the latest labor report.

The jobless rate in Glendale dropped by 0.2%, to 5.5%, while it ticked down 0.1% to 4.7% in Burbank, according to statistics released Friday by the California Employment Development Department.

The state’s unemployment rate was 5.7%, down from 5.8% in October and a significant improvement from 7.2% in November 2014.

In the La Crescenta-Montrose area and La Cañada Flintridge, the jobless rates edged down 0.1% in both communities, coming in at 3.2% and 3%, respectively.
