Letter: Phlunte’ Riddle run offers alternative for 25th District race

Recently the local Democratic Club held a forum to meet the Democratic candidates for state Senate District 25. Candidate Anthony Portantino did not attend and I wonder if he thinks he is the only Democratic candidate to consider now the Assemblyman Mike Gatto has decided not to run.

One candidate who attended and who all voters should consider is Phlunte’ Riddle. Collaboration and leadership are hallmarks of Ms. Riddle’s long history of public service in Pasadena, which includes serving as the first female African-American lieutenant on the Pasadena police force, public information officer and adjutant to the chief of police, commissioner on the board that oversees management of the Pasadena Convention Center, board member of Foothill Family Services, interim director of the Pasadena YWCA, and as an educator. She is a strong advocate for the rights of women and the LGBT community.
