A successful inaugural season came to a close Wednesday night for the Arroyo Seco Sentinels.

Competing against the top-seeded Palm Springs Power in the third game of the best-of-three Southern California Collegiate Baseball League playoff series, Arroyo Seco saw its campaign end with a 4-2 loss in Palm Springs at Palm Springs Stadium.

Palm Springs will meet the second-seeded San Diego Force in the championships series. The first game will be held Friday in San Diego. San Diego swept the SoCal Bombers.

Palm Springs scored two runs in the first inning against Arroyo Seco, which features several local players, to grab a 2-0 lead. Palm Springs made it 3-0 in the fourth before extending the lead to 4-0 in the sixth.

Arroyo Seco’s Noeh Martinez had a two-run single in the eighth with two outs to cut the deficit to 4-2.

Arroyo Seco had a quality scoring chance in the seventh following a walk to Ricky Perez (Glendale Community College) to load the bases. However, Palm Springs escaped the jam after Duncan McKinnon struck out.

Arroyo Seco, which finished fourth in the league and is a sibling team of the Arroyo Seco Saints, opened the tournament Monday with a 5-4 win against Palm Springs at Jackie Robinson Park in Pasadena. Palm Springs evened the series Tuesday with a 4-3 home win.

The Sentinels, who received two hits from Harrison Hoff (Glendale college), are coached by Anthony Chevrier.
