Another season of progress for the Glendale High girls’ volleyball team ended once again in the first round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs.

For the second straight season, the Nitros were defeated by top-seeded Woodland Hills Louisville, this time by a score of 25-8, 25-11, 25-14 in the first round of the Division II-A playoffs Tuesday evening.

With the victory, the Sunshine League champion Royals (27-5) earned advancement to Thursday’s second round, while Glendale finished its season with a 15-10 record.

“We played better this year than last year,” Glendale Coach Ta’ase Mose texted. “I’m proud of the seniors and the whole volleyball program.”

Glendale won three more matches this season than last year as the team finished with a 12-12 record in 2014. The Nitros also were fourth last season in the Pacific League and moved up to third with victories over league stalwarts Burbank, Arcadia and Crescenta Valley.

Last season, Glendale was also defeated by top-seeded Louisville, 25-11, 25-15, 25-13 in the first round of the Division II-A postseason.
