Sports Roundup: Flintridge Sacred Heart volleyball spikes Louisville for 2nd straight win

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 3, Louisville 2: After starting the Mission League season with five straight losses, the Tologs have rebounded with consecutive victories, including on Thursday, 17-25, 25-14, 17-25, 25-22, 15-11.

Megan Lund led the way with 18 kills and 10 digs, while Julia Powers contributed 10 kills for Flintridge Sacred Heart (7-12, 2-5 in league). Cate Doud added 45 assists and six aces, while Maddie Pernecky finished with 16 digs. The contest marked the return of injured outside hitter Ellis DeJardin, an All-Area first-team pick last season, who totaled five digs.

Pasadena Poly 3, Flintridge Prep 0: Host Flintridge Prep fell, 25-22, 25-13, 25-14, on Thursday in a Prep League road match. The Rebels (11-7, 4-6 in league) got 10 kills from Libby Penn and nine from Jada Gritton and 16 digs from Ellen Chang.

GIRLS’ GOLF

Glendale, Crescenta Valley in Pacific League individual finals: Elis Alaan of Glendale carded a 10-over-par 80 in Tuesday’s event at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai. Alaan has a 41.6 average for sixth in league and earned a top-nine finish to advance to the CIF Southern Section Northern Individual final at Soule at 10 a.m. Oct. 23.

A pair of Crescenta Valley athletes will be alternates, as Michaela Labellarte and Vienna Bebla shot 87s. Labellarte has a league average of 46 for 10th in league and Bebla has a 47.3 for 11th.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 232, Chaminade 253: The Tologs improved to 3-3 overall and in league after a Mission League triumph Thursday afternoon at Woodley Golf Course.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Hoover 14, Arcadia 10: Hoover posted a Pacific League home win Thursday, getting two goals from Simon Wang. The Tornadoes improved to 4-1 in league and are tied for first with Crescenta Valley and Burroughs.

Flintridge Prep 12, Brentwood 8: Flintridge Prep picked up a Prep League home win Tuesday. The Rebels are 12-3, 5-0 in league.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Glendale 12, Hoover 6: Glendale picked up a Pacific League road win Thursday. The Nitros improved to 10-4, 5-4 in league.

Arcadia 17, Crescenta Valley 1: The visiting Falcons suffered a Pacific League defeat Tuesday. Crescenta Valley dipped to 9-3, 8-2 in league, with both league defeats coming against the Apaches.

Immaculate Heart 11, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 7: The Tologs dropped a Mission League home match Thursday at Scholl Canyon Tennis Center.

MEN’S SOCCER

Glendale Community College 4, College of the Canyons 3: Fabricio Bonilla and Wilmer Bonilla scored two goals apiece Tuesday to lead the visiting Vaqueros in a Western State Conference South Division match. The Vaqueros (3-7-3, 2-0 in the division) scored three second-half goals.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Santa Monica City College 13, Glendale Community College 0: Host Glendale suffered a Western State Conference South Division-opening defeat Tuesday. The Vaqueros dipped to 1-8.
