Sports Roundup: Crescenta Valley collects wins in baseball, swimming, softball, lacrosse and volleyball

SWIMMING

Crescenta Valley 111, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 57: Crescenta Valley picked up a nonleague home win Wednesday. The Falcons received two first-place efforts from Kimmy Park in the 100-yard freestyle (55.71 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1:03.70) and Gabi Icheva in the 200 individual medley (2.12. 57) and 50 freestyle (25.88).

Miya Higuchi won the 100 butterfly (59.92) and Amanda Petersen won the 100 breaststroke (1.09.30) for the Falcons.

The Tologs picked up two wins from Fiona Mass in the 200 freestyle (2.12.82) and 500 freestyle (5.54.88).

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Crescenta Valley 3, Hoover 0: Crescenta Valley (8-1) began Pacific League play Wednesday with a 25-20, 25-14, 25-14 road win. Hoover dipped to 1-1.

Crescenta Valley recorded a 25-23, 25-21, 25-22 nonleague home win against Hart on Tuesday.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Crescenta Valley 8, Downey 5: Crescenta Valley (1-2) received two goals apiece from Lizzie Hales and Madeline Heeg to register a nonleague home win.

The Falcons (1-2) got seven saves from goalkeeper Phoebe Crowther.

St. Monica Academy 13, La Cañada 12: The Crusaders (3-4) pick up a road victory on Wednesday.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 11, Glendale 10 (overtime): Josh Kerr had four goals for host Glendale (1-3) in a nonleague match Wednesday. The Nitros got three goals and two assists from Brendan Marquardt and two goals and three assists from Jason Camach.

BOYS’ TENNIS

St. Francis 9, Pasadena Poly 9 (St. Francis wins, 89-74): The Golden Knights posted a nonleague win Wednesday at Pasadena City College. St. Francis (1-3) got three wins in singles from Ian Freer (6-1, 6-0, 6-3).

BASEBALL

Crescenta Valley 10, Alta Loma 5: Starting pitcher Will Grimm went six innings, striking out five, to pace Crescenta Valley in a nonleague contest at Stengel Field on Wednesday. Ty Langford struck out the side in the seventh.

Crescenta Valley (2-2) got a home run from Brian Erickson, two doubles and two runs batted in from Vincent Parrott and two RBI from Trevor Beer.

Flintridge Prep 8, Port of L.A. 3: Flintridge Prep (3-2) picked up a win Tuesday in a Mary Star of the Sea Tournament contest.

De Toledo 6, St. Monica Academy 2: The Crusaders (1-1) fell Tuesday in a nonleague road contest.

Santa Barbara 4, St. Francis 3: Visiting St. Francis dropped an Easton Tournament game Wednesday.

St. Francis pitcher Chris Stamos went six innings, yielding three hits and two earned runs. He struck out four.

Mikey Kane, Matthew Odom and Tyler Quintero had two hits each for St. Francis (1-4).

BOYS’ GOLF

Flintridge Prep 246, Azusa 253: Jack Crawford carded an eight-over-par 42 on Wednesday to lead the Rebels (5-0) in a nonleague match at Azusa Greens Golf Course.

St. Francis 190, Crespi 241: Andrew Fiori carded an even-par 36 on Wednesday to pace the Golden Knights in a Mission League match at Brookside Golf Course No. 1 in Pasadena. St. Francis (1-1 overall and in league) received 38s from Lake Kim and Henry Fitzhugh and 39s from Will Coontz and Michael Balian.

SOFTBALL

Glendale 15, San Gabriel 1 (five innings): Glendale (5-0) rolled to a nonleague road victory Tuesday.

Crescenta Valley in the Suzanne Manlet Tournament: The Falcons picked up a couple of victories Wednesday afternoon at Westlake Community Park.

The Falcons improved to 4-0 after wins of 5-1 over Mira Costa and 10-2 versus Agoura.

BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Flintridge Prep at Prep League cluster meet: The Rebels finished second at the league’s first meet at Webb on Tuesday afternoon in Claremont.

Flintridge Prep tallied 95 points, which trailed only host Webb (107).

For Prep, Sebastian Evans won the 400-meter dash (53.18 seconds), Evan Pattinelli clinched the 800 (2:07.24), Carson Hasbrouk was first in the 3,200 (11:09.40) and the Rebels’ 4x400 relay squad took home the win in 3:52.37.

GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Flintridge Prep at Prep League cluster meet: It was tough sledding for the Rebels, who finished last at the first league meet on Tuesday at Webb High in Claremont.

Sasha Codiga won the 400-meter dash (62.69).
