Sports Roundup: Glendale Community College men’s basketball pulls off OT victory against Antelope Valley

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Glendale Community College 90, Antelope Valley College 87 (overtime): The Vaqueros picked up a thrilling Western State Conference South Division victory Saturday night at home and snapped a two-game losing skid in the process.

Glendale (9-11, 5-3 in conference) is now tied for second in the division with Santa Monica and L.A. Valley, two games behind front runner Bakersfield (7-1), which has only lost to GCC.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Antelope Valley College 49, Glendale Community College 37: Angela Basco had a game-high 14 points, but it wasn’t enough as Glendale fell behind, 12-5, after the first quarter and lost Saturday at home.

The Western State Conference South Division setback was the ninth defeat in a row for Glendale (3-18, 0-8 in division).

Basco added five rebounds and two steals, while Golinaz Velashjerdi had nine points and two steals and Maria Quejada had seven rebounds.
