Sports Roundup: St. Francis baseball topples Crespi again
BASEBALL
St. Francis 8, Crespi 2: St. Francis rolled to a Mission League win Wednesday.
Pitcher Hayden Byrnes tossed a complete game for the Golden Knights (2-7, 2-0 in league). He gave up five hits, two earned runs and struck out four.
St. Francis’ Brandon Lewis had a two-run home run in the first inning. Christian Muro, Doyle Kane and Patrick Dionisio each had two hits for the Golden Knights. Muro had two runs batted in and a run scored. Kane had a double and a run scored. Dionisio had a double, RBI and scored twice.
San Dimas 12, Glendale 0: The Nitros (1-8) fell Wednesday at home in a Babe Herman Tournament contest.
Nate Rangel, Jacob Rangel and Christian Bermudez had hits for the Nitros.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Harvard-Westlake 15, St. Francis 3: The host Golden Knights fell Wednesday in Mission League match at Flint Canyon Tennis Center. St. Francis (3-4, 1-2 in league) received two singles wins from Ian Freer (6-0, 6-2).
GIRLS’ LACROSSE
St. Monica Academy in Birmingham Tournament: The first-year program raced to its-first ever championship Saturday.
St. Monica Academy defeated La Cañada, 9-8, in Saturday’s championship game.
That victory came after the Crusaders (4-2) topped Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 5-3, in the quarterfinals and Tustin, 11-5, in the semifinals Saturday.
