Kids stoked to be on the water

Dozens of children, some first-timers and others seasoned riders, participated in the Stoke-O-Rama surfing competition Saturday in Huntington Beach.

During the free event, kids 12 and younger competed in four divisions: Pops and Pups for girls and boys 8 and under, boys 10 and under, girls 12 and under and boys 10 and under.

Each year, Stoke-O-Rama raises about $10,000 for the Positive Vibe Warriors Foundation, a San Clemente-based organization founded by the Gudauskas family that seeks to promote youth water safety programs and ocean education.

This year’s proceeds, which have not yet been calculated, are being donated to the Huntington Beach YMCA, according to a news release from Positive Vibe Warriors.
