Motorcyclist in serious condition after collision in Huntington Beach

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Tuesday in a collision near Goldenwest Street and Heil Avenue in Huntington Beach, according to police.

The 20-year-old motorcyclist was southbound on Goldenwest when he was struck by a 75-year-old woman driving an SUV shortly before noon, said Jennifer Marlatt, public information officer for the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Marlatt said the SUV was making a left turn from northbound Goldenwest into the driveway of an Arco gas station, at 16501 Goldenwest St., when it collided with the motorcyle.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital in serious condition, Marlatt said, adding that the extent of his injuries is not being released.

Marlatt said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the collision.

Further information about the drivers, including their cities of residence, and whether there were any passengers in the SUV was not immediately available.
