A man and two juveniles were arrested Saturday on suspicion of stealing $28,000 worth of cellphones and money from a Verizon Wireless store in Fountain Valley, authorities said Monday.

The robbery was reported at 4:40 p.m. at the phone store at 9025 Warner Ave., Fountain Valley police Sgt. Tony Luce said.

The robbers had fled the scene in a car by the time police arrived, but witnesses provided a description of them and their vehicle, police said.

Police found a car matching the description later that night in Bellflower, and a short chase followed. The car ended up colliding with another vehicle at Clark Avenue and Somerset Boulevard, and the people inside fled on foot, police said.

Luce said he didn’t know whether the occupants of the other car were injured.

With assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, police found and arrested three suspects on suspicion of robbery, brandishing a firearm, reckless vehicle pursuit, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest, Luce said.

The stolen property was recovered and a loaded gun was found in the car, police said.

Luce said one suspect was identified as Justian Meriwether, 25. The others are juveniles. All are from Compton.

Meriwether was booked at Orange County Jail in Santa Ana, and the juveniles were taken to Orange County Juvenile Hall in Orange.
