A bomb squad investigated a package Thursday morning in front of a Huntington Beach public works building and found it wasn’t dangerous, authorities said.

Huntington Beach police responded to a report of a suspicious package in front of the city water operations facility at 19001 Huntington St. at 6:13 a.m., police spokeswoman Jennifer Marlatt said.

Officers closed Garfield Avenue between Main and Delaware streets and Huntington Street between Clay Avenue and Garfield as crews worked to identify the contents of the package, Lt. John Cottriel said.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad was called in to assist the police and fire departments.

Marlatt said there “wasn’t found to be anything of concern” in the package, and the roads were reopened later in the morning.

She didn’t have information on the package’s contents.
