A 14-member group of La Cañada women comprising the Foothill Auxiliary of Ahead With Horses recently awarded a therapeutic equestrian program with an $11,000 check representing the proceeds of their annual Chinese Auction and Luncheon that was held in February.

Accepting the check was Michelle Newman, executive director of Ahead With Horses, based in Shadow Hills. The award-winning organization, founded in 1968, assists children with disabilities.

The community is invited to attend the Ahead With Horses Fun Day, set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, June 10. Admission is $7 for kids and $14 for adults. The facility’s address is 10157 Joahanna Ave., Shadow Hills. Demonstrations will take place from noon to 2 p.m.; food, game booths and other activities will be included.
