Share

Members of La Cañada Flintridge Orthopaedic Guild gathered last week for the group’s February meeting at the home of Easy Delaney, followed by a trip to the Pasadena Museum of History.

President Joan Cleven led the meeting, during which Joanne Plosajz, treasurer, announced the local organization will send a check for $17,268.94 to the Charitable Children’s Guild for distribution to Orthopaedic Institute for Children. This donation completes the guild’s pledge of $100,000 to the institute, in support of a new ambulatory surgery center at its campus in downtown Los Angeles. According to Mary Beth Perrine, senior director of community outreach for the hospital, construction is on schedule with an anticipated opening in May.

Following a February tradition, members of the Guild brought donations of home baked and bakery bought cookies to the meeting to be delivered to the institute in appreciation of the staff. Caryl Pettit will make the delivery on the group’s behalf.

After last week’s meeting, the group traveled to the Pasadena Museum of History and were provided with a private guided tour of its current exhibit, “Fabulous Fashions.”

The La Cañada Flintridge Orthopaedic Guild meets on the first Thursday of each month, September to June. Anyone interested in attending a meeting is asked to contact Marie Gilhooly at (818) 248-5262.
