Ticktockers’ sleepover is productive

Share

The Glendale Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. recently held two events, a sleepover for seventh- and eighth-grade Ticktockers and a weekend for ninth-grade Ticktockers and their mothers.

At their sleepover, the eighth-graders organized a scavenger hunt activity, and afterward the classes combined to make hygiene kits for Ascencia, one of the chapter’s philanthropies. They also gathered in small groups to talk about school, sports and National Charity League. Organizers for the event were Debbie Cox and Paris Cohen, along with a committee of mothers and daughters.

The ninth-grade class held the mother-daughter weekend. The retreat featured zip lining, archery and a campfire at Pali Mountain, complete with s’mores and skits. The ninth-graders also planned their holiday activities, which include preparing a breakfast for clients at Ascencia and working together on the La Cañada Tournament of Roses Assn.’s float entry in the Rose Parade.

“The weekend is a highlight for our members. The time away and together allow our members to foster the mother and daughter relationship that is at the heart of the NCL mission and to grow together as a class,” stated Deborah Weirick, adviser to the ninth-graders, in a news release.
