The Valley Line: Fun night for Junior Women’s Club
As Joe Puglia mentioned in one of his recent Valley Sun columns, the La Cañada Junior Women’s Club in February held its annual fundraising party at La Cañada Flintridge Country Club that brought out about 100 party-goers. The clubhouse was transformed into a colorful Mardi Gras-themed party and guests let the good times roll.
Kelly Green was chair of the event and Trish McRae was the silent auction chair.
The club’s members, spouses and guests enjoyed a New Orleans style dinner that included Cajun-style chicken and salmon, gumbo and corn bread, with beignets for dessert. An evening of dancing followed as the deejay spun some classic hits.

While sipping on cocktails, guests bid on fabulous silent-auction items and tried their luck to win at the “wine toss” and “wheel of fortune.” They then popped into the glittering photo booth to snap some keepsakes of the evening.
It was a fun and memorable night with monies raised going toward the club’s philanthropies, Pasadena Ronald McDonald House and Five Acres of Altadena.

Gloria De Olarte and Art Rothberg were dance chairs when members and guests of the Stardusters/Alaroma Dance Club gathered in a private and historical downtown private club for a recent dinner dance. The Murray Middleman band provided the danceable tunes.

If you’ve been reading this column for years, you may have gleaned that I am a theater, art and music lover.
I just have to tell you about one of the most delightful musical theater adventures I attended that is tailored made for the entire family. Now, for just a short time (closing on March 12) at Hollywood’s iconic Pantages Theatre is “Finding Neverland.” The story, which explores the inspiration for the well-loved story of Peter Pan and playwright J.M. Barrie is fast paced and filled with some of the most adorable and talented kids.
I wish that my grandchildren lived close by because I would have loved to have experienced this musical with them.
