The Valley Line: Club members mark beginning of social season with a Cuban-inspired dinner
Last Friday was the first day of fall. I’ve been busy digging out autumn wreaths, pumpkins and other Halloween décor from the garage in order to celebrate this wonderful season.
Guess what? I discovered the Tooth Fairy doesn’t come when you lose a tooth as an adult. Oh me, oh my! I had an abscessed tooth that eventually had to be pulled, and I was in excruciating pain! If there was one time I needed a kind tooth fairy to visit me it was then. One thing for sure is I hope I never have to go through that again. I’m certain that many of you can relate!

On to more interesting things: The La Cañada Thursday Club recreated a hot Havana night in all its lush glory when it celebrated the start of its 2017-18 club year earlier this month.
The historic Woodleigh Lane clubhouse was decorated with vibrant lights and illuminated palm tree centerpieces, festive music, colorful dress and delicious food catered by Chefs on Fire.
The record-breaking attendance of 139 members and guests dined on Cuban mojo marinated pork loin, grilled Swai basa, cilantro lime mojo chicken roasted and garnished with fried plantains, mango papaya and citrus salad, Cuban rice and beans and mojito shrimp completed the authentic cuisine.
