Share

The city of La Cañada Flintridge and the Los Angeles County Fire Department will offer a three-session class in La Cañada to instruct residents how to prepare and respond in the event of a major disaster. The free classes will be held on Jan. 16, 23 and 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the La Cañada Unified School District offices, 4490 Cornishon Ave.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training was developed through the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide basic fire safety and lifesaving skills that allow residents to help their neighbors respond in the event of a disaster. The three-class curriculum covers disaster psychology, light search-and-rescue operations and fire-extinguisher training.

Registration is required. For more information, call (661) 287-3690 or visit fire.lacounty.gov/CERT.
