One City One Book suggests titles

Share

The La Cañada Flintridge One City One Book committee this year organized a successful community reading program focusing on Mark Salzman’s 1986 memoir, “Iron & Silk” that culminated with a special event in October that drew 95 guests.

Salzman regaled the audience with insights into his book and his experiences when he lived in Central China.

Continuing to encourage locals to pick up books for entertainment and education throughout the rest of the year, the committee suggests the following titles: “The Martian,” by Andy Weir, paired with “Packing for Mars” by Mary Roach and “Rocket Girl” by George D. Morgan. Also recommended by committee members are the books “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry” by Gabrielle Zevin, “Wife of the God,” a mystery by Kwei Quartey and, for young adults, “All the Bright Places,” by Jennifer Niven.
