Nominations open for Kiwanis Club’s La Cañadan of the Year award

In a longtime local spring ritual, the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada is gearing up for its annual La Cañadan of the Year awards luncheon and is seeking the public’s help in identifying a community member deserving of the honor.

Completed nomination forms, which can be found at lacanadakiwanis.org, are due by Friday, March 9. They are also available at the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce office, 4529 Angeles Crest Highway, suite 102; the La Cañada public library, 4545 Oakwood Ave., and City Hall, 1327 Foothill Blvd.

For more than 60 years, the Kiwanis Club has been honoring individuals — and in some years, married couples — “who have demonstrated strong evidence of ‘giving back’ and exemplary commitment to the community,” according to a statement issued by the organization this week. Last year’s honoree was Jeanne Broberg.

The new La Cañadan of the Year will be honored at an April 25 luncheon in Descanso Gardens’ Van de Kamp Hall. Members of the public are invited to attend.
