April 27

Burglary: 5700 block of Summit Crest Drive. A woman reported that sometime between 9:15 and 10:45 a.m., someone entered her home after cutting the window screen on a rear laundry room door and climbing through the window. Her son had been the last resident in the home that morning and had left it locked up, except for that window. When the mother returned home at 10:45, she found the house ransacked and three high-end purses — Cartier, Louis Vuitton and YSL — were missing from her closet. It was unknown at the time of the report if any other items had been taken. According to her son, there had been an unfamiliar dark-colored car parked across the street from their home when he left that day. He also noticed that a laptop computer had been moved from his bedroom to the living room.

Felon in possession of a firearm: A sheriff’s deputy pulled over a male driver on Foothill Boulevard near Castle Road after observing the man speaking on a cellphone while driving. The deputy further noticed that the license plate light was not operating on the man’s Chevrolet Silverado. He ran the suspect’s information and received a report saying the driver was on probation for illegal possession of an assault weapon. He placed the man in the back of the patrol vehicle and searched the Silverado. In the truck’s bed he found a loaded .357 Magnum revolver that the man said belongs to his girlfriend. The suspect was taken into custody on a parole violation.
