Local DAR chapter recognizes 5 teens with ‘Good Citizen’ awards

With proud parents, teachers and counselors looking on, five local high school students were recently feted by the Don Jose Verdugo Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution with the Society’s annual Good Citizen awards.

Those honored during a luncheon meeting of the chapter held at Oakmont Country Club were Dalia Saklaway, Clark Magnet, daughter of Amal Ezzeddine and Moe Saklaway; Sophia Corbisiero, Flintridge Preparatory School, daughter of Raffaele and Lisa Corbisiero; Daniel J. Kim, Crescenta Valley High, son of You and Yeon Kim, Leah Nagel, La Cañada High School, daughter of Bill and Sarah Nagel, and Margaret “Maggie” Maguire, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, daughter of Dennis and Karen Maguire.

The teens were recognized for their qualities of “leadership, dependability, service and patriotism in their homes as well as at school and in their communities,” according to a news release issued by the Don Jose Verdugo Chapter. The award was created in 1934 by the National Society of DAR.
