Share

The La Cañada Flintridge City Council voted Tuesday to begin recruiting to fill two new unscheduled vacancies that recently came up on the Planning Commission and Youth Council. Announcement of the vacancies comes just one month after the council filled 15 open seats on various commissions and committees in a June 7 meeting.

On June 17, Tom Smith resigned from the Planning Commission, effective immediately, city documents state. His term was set to expire on May 31, 2018. Additionally, Youth Council member Riley Owen will not be able to serve the remainder of his term, which expires May 31, 2017, as he graduated from La Cañada High School in May.

Council members will have the option of considering past applicants for the open seats as well as new ones. The deadline for submitting applications — available at La Cañada Flintridge City Hall, 1327 Foothill Blvd. — is July 20 at 5 p.m. Interviews will take place until appointments are made in an Aug. 2 council meeting.
