Letters to the Editor: Mailbag: La Cañada is not safe with only 2 cars patrolling streets

Share

I was disheartened by last week’s Crime Report, which on your website carried the headline “Three La Cañada homes hit in one night by burglars smashing second-floor glass doors.”

That’s three more La Cañada homes burglarized on April 19 by what seem to be the same home invaders that burglarized three other homes in the same fashion on April 10 and several more homes the week before.

We are not safe with only two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department units “patrolling” all of La Cañada, taking 25 to 30 minutes to respond to our 911 calls for help.

La Cañada needs better policing. We need law enforcement to implement proactive measures to catch these culprits: detectives dedicated to solving this crime spree, undercover cars, license plate readers, cameras by freeway entrances and signalized intersections, faster response times and follow-through on crime-stopping tips from residents.

In a city where the average annual household income exceeds 200K and the median home price approaches $2 million, we are a targeted community that is in dire need of swift action from City Hall!
