Sports Roundup: La Cañada girls’ basketball heading to tournament finals

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 48, Sonora 45: Behind 21 points, eight rebounds and eight steals from Tess Oakley-Stilson, the Spartans picked up a victory in the semifinals of the Arroyo Tournament on Friday evening in El Monte.

Lauren Scoville added 13 points and seven rebounds and Brooke Yasuda contributed eight points and seven rebounds for the Spartans (6-1), who advance to the tournament championship at 6 p.m. Saturday versus Oak Hills.

South Pasadena 60, Flintridge Prep 57: The visiting Rebels suffered a nonleague defeat Friday. Flintridge Prep dipped to 4-4.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Sierra Canyon 71, La Cañada 38: The Spartans fell in the pool play finale of the La Cañada Holiday Classic Tournament on Friday evening versus the state powerhouse.

With the loss, the Spartans (5-3) will play in the tournament’s third-place game at 6 p.m. on Saturday versus Renaissance Academy.

BOYS’ SOCCER

La Cañada 3, Maranatha 0: The Spartans picked up a nonleague victory Friday afternoon at home for their second straight victory.

Junior Jake Tolkin scores two goals for La Cañada (2-1).

Pasadena 3, Flintridge Prep 0: The visiting Rebels dropped a nonleague match Friday.
