Sports Roundup: Tolkin scores two for victorious La Cañada boys’ soccer

BOYS' SOCCER

La Cañada 5, Blair 0: The Spartans rolled to a Rio Hondo League victory in Pasadena on Friday afternoon.

Jake Tolkin led the way for La Cañada (6-2-3, 2-0 in league) with two goals, while Armen Eyssakhanian, Will Chant and Marcus Chmielewski also scored.

St. Francis 3, Crespi 1: St. Francis got two goals from Nick Maldonado and one from Ian Odermatt to pick up a Mission League road win Friday. The Golden Knights improved to 9-4-1, 3-0 in league.

GIRLS' SOCCER

Flintridge Sacred Heart 3, Alemany 3: The Tologs remained unbeaten in Mission League play with a tie on Friday. The Tologs fell behind, 2-0, but rallied behind goals from Fiona Stayton and Amethyst Trang. Flintridge Sacred Heart is 6-2-4, 1-0-1 in league.

Cerritos Valley Christian 1, La Cañada 0: A second-half goal stopped the Spartans, who dropped a nonleague road game on Friday afternoon.

La Cañada dropped to 7-4-2.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

La Cañada 51, Blair 47: Despite a strong challenge, the Spartans picked up their 24th consecutive Rio Hondo League victory on Friday evening in Pasadena.

Brendan Co scored a game-high 20 points for La Cañada (10-8, 2-0), while Patric Panoosi and Jivan Shirvanian added 10 points each.

Flintridge Prep 67, Rio Hondo Prep 57: Visiting Flintridge Prep (7-9) tipped off Prep League play Friday with a win.

Crespi 68, St. Francis 42: The visiting Golden Knights trailed by nine points after one quarter and never recovered in a Mission League road defeat Friday.

Javon Jones tallied 10 points for St. Francis (9-7, 0-3 in league), which received nine points each from Andre Henry and Dennis Flowers.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

La Cañada 88, Blair 19: It was another easy victory for the Spartans in Rio Hondo League play on Friday afternoon.

With the victory, the Spartans improved to 13-4 and 2-0 in league.

Flintridge Prep 57, Rio Hondo Prep 42: Kaitlyn Chen collected 16 points and Madison Manning added 12 on Friday to spark the visiting Rebels to a Prep League win. Flintridge Prep improved to 12-5, 4-0 in league.
