Sports Roundup: St. Francis track speeds past Crespi

BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

St. Francis 105, Crespi 20: The host Golden Knights cruised to a Mission League victory Thursday afternoon.

The Golden Knights (1-1) won 13 of 15 events with Matthew Molina capturing the 100-meter dash (11.51 seconds) and the long jump (20 feet, 6 inches), Stuart Serventi claimed the 800 meters (2:13.47) and 1,600 (4:57.29) and Blake Howard took home the 110-meter hurdles (16.68) and pole vault (13 feet).

Colton Ramirez claimed the 200-meter dash (24.29), Christian Loprieta won the 400 meter (55.51), Grant James captured the 300 hurdles (45.50), Alex Jordan finished first in the high jump (5-10) and Gabriel Grbavac took home the shot put (46-1 1/2), while the 400-meter (45.57) and 1,600-meter (3:49.27) relay teams also won.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Flintridge Prep 3, Gabrielino 0: AJ Nicassio contributed 14 kills and five aces Thursday to lead the Rebels to a 25-18, 25-18, 25-8 monleague road win.

Flintridge Prep (5-0) got seven kills apiece from Majeed Ismail and Garrett Gaines.

St. Francis 3, Chaminade 0: Joey Thompson finished with 36 assists Thursday to power St. Francis to a 25-15, 25-13, 25-14 Mission League home win.

The Golden Knights (7-6, 2-2 in league) received nine kills apiece from Valentin Medina and Brian Castro and eight from Michael Dumansky.

BOYS’ GOLF

St. Francis 191, Alemany 260: St. Francis received two-over-par 38s from Henry Fitzhugh, Lake Kim, Jacob Smissen and Will Coontz on Thursday to record a Mission League win at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena. The Golden Knights are 2-1 overall and in league.

Flintridge Prep 226, Azusa 267: Ben Sacks carded a one-over-par 37 on Thursday to lift the Rebels (6-0) to a nonleague win at Altadena Golf Course.

SOFTBALL

Notre Dame Academy 16, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 7: The Tologs (3-2) lost a nonleague home contest Thursday.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

St. Monica Academy 13, La Cañada 12: The Spartans came their closest to a victory before falling at home on Wednesday afternoon.

La Cañada dropped to 0-6 this season.
