Sports Roundup: Flintridge Sacred Heart volleyball sweeps Alemany

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 3, Alemany 0: The Tologs earned a 25-19, 25-13, 25-10 Mission League road victory Tuesday.

Flintridge Sacred Heart (14-5, 4-3 in league) received 15 kills and five blocks from Ellis deJardin, 11 kills, 15 digs and three aces from Kayla Lund, 22 assists from Kate Doud and 18 assists from Colleen Clapp.

Monrovia 3, La Cañada 0: The Spartans fell versus the host Rio Hondo League-leading Wildcats on Tuesday afternoon, 25-18, 25-12, 25-13.

With the loss, La Cañada was swept by Monrovia and dropped to 6-10 and 3-3 in league.

The defeat was the second in a row for the Spartans, who fell at South Pasadena on Thursday, 20-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-14.

Pasadena Poly 3, Flintridge Prep 0: Flintridge Prep dropped a 25-13, 25-12, 26-24 Prep League road match Tuesday.

The Rebels dipped to 9-10, 3-5 in league.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

La Cañada versus Blair: Tuesday afternoon’s Rio Hondo League contest was not played due to a lack of officials, said La Cañada Coach Josh Rodriguez.

It was uncertain when the game will be rescheduled as of Tuesday night.

Previous to that, the Spartans defeated Monrovia, 16-6, at home on Thursday afternoon.

With the win, La Cañada improved to 6-5 and 1-1 in league.

Burbank 11, St. Francis 10: The Golden Knights dropped a nonleague road match Tuesday.

GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Flintridge Sacred Heart in Mission League’s second meet: For a second consecutive meet, the Tologs placed fifth at Tuesday’s meet at Crescenta Valley Park.

The Tologs finished with 175 points and posted only one top-25 effort, as sophomore Samantha Covey was 15th in 21.10.71.

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

St. Francis at Mission League’s second meet: It was a second straight sixth-place finish for the Golden Knights at Tuesday afternoon’s meet at Crescenta Valley Park.

The Golden Knights tallied 155 points and posted two top-25 efforts as freshman Stuart Serventi led the way by placing 20th in 17:55.53. Senior Charles Mayne was St. Francis’ No. 2 runner as he placed 24th in 18:08.90.
