Sports Roundup: La Cañada girls’ volleyball wins two straight

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

La Cañada 3, Maranatha 0: For the first time this season, the Spartans won two matches in a row with a 25-17, 28-26, 25-20 nonleague home victory Thursday afternoon.

Freshman Emily Weirick tallied 17 kills and 10 digs for La Cañada (4-8), while Hailey Belcher totaled 31 assists, 19 digs and four aces and Elizabeth Gannon added 19 digs.

On Tuesday, the Spartans defeated San Marino.

Monrovia 10, La Cañada 8: The Spartans dropped a tough Rio Hondo League defeat Thursday afternoon in Monrovia.

With the defeat, the Spartans dropped to 3-4 and 1-2 in league.
