Sports Roundup: La Cañada wrestling claims outright title

La Cañada 50, San Marino 20: There will be no sharing of the Rio Hondo League wrestling championship.

That’s because for the first time in five seasons, the Spartans defeated reigning four-time champion San Marino and claimed an outright championship on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Lucian Ishibashi (138 pounds), senior Jake Harb (152 pounds), junior Ben Donoho (160 pounds), sophomore Johnny Vasila (170) and junior Lyndon Forest (195 pounds) picked up pins for La Cañada, which improved to 11-2, 4-0 in league.

Freshman Eric David (113) picked up a technical fall in the victory.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Flintridge Prep 60, Chadwick 48: Flintridge Prep notched a Prep League home win Tuesday, avenging a previous loss to the Dolphins. The Rebels are 10-8, 5-2 in league.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Alemany 91, Flintridge Sacred Heart 51: The Tologs suffered a Mission League road defeat Tuesday afternoon.

Camilla Homans led Flintridge Sacred Heart (7-17, 0-6) with 13 points and Ryan Dubb added 12 points.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Prep 1, Firebaugh 0: Andrew Lathrop scored the lone goal to lift host Flintridge Prep to a Prep League win Monday.

The Rebels (8-1-1, 3-1 in league) received seven saves from goalkeeper Aidan Schraeder.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 2, Marlborough 1: The Tologs picked up a Mission League road win Monday.

Flintridge Sacred Heart improved to 9-3-1, 3-2 in league.
