The Northern State basketball teams have important business to take care of this weekend.
The Wolves will host Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foes Augustana College tonight and Wayne State Saturday at Wachs Arena in Aberdeen. The women play at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 both nights. All four games will be on TV (Midco Sports Network).
Both NSU teams have being playing well. The women have won eight of nine and the men five of their last six.
The NSU women are tied for second place in the NSIC and the men tied for eighth, with the Wayne men - the Wayne women are leading the conference. Both Augie teams are near the top of the conference standings. Only the top eight teams in the 14-team NSIC will qualify for the men's and women's postseason tournaments.
To make it even more of a wild weekend is that tonight is a Maroon Out Night where fans are encouraged to wear maroon. It is also senior night for NSU's Krista Rabenberg, Jodi Reinschmidt , Tom Parks and Derek Hoellein.
Saturday is the annual I Hate Winter Night where fans are encouraged to wear warm-weather gear. Former NSU players will be honored as well that night and the NSU women will hold an alumni game at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Washington Street Gymnasium in Aberdeen.
In his 32nd season, NSU women's coach Curt Fredrickson continues to close in on 700 wins. He has 686, all with the Wolves.
