1986 - Chris Washburn, North Carolina's 6-foot-11 sophomore center, will enter the National Basketball Association hardship draft.
1991 - Minnesota Vikings kicker Donald Igwebuike is cleared of drug importation and conspiracy charges in a scheme to import $1 million worth of heroin from his native Nigeria.
2001 - Eddie Gill of the New Jersey Nets scored the eight millionth point in National Basketball Association history as he hit a layup with 10:57 left in the Nets' 95-88 loss to the Boston Celtics. The basket, calculated as the milestone by the league, came four years, four and a half months since the seven millionth point was scored by Hersey Hawkins on Dec. 1, 1996.
2006 - Jake Hamik broke his own Northern State record in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 53.41 seconds at the NCAA Division II Challenge hosted by Emporia (Kan.) State. Hamik had established the previous record the week before.
2010 - Aberdeen Central carded a team score of 380 to win the Golden Eagle Invitational girls' high school golf meet at Lee Park. Amanda Tobin led the Central effort with a score of 89. Milbank's Rachel Patnoe was medalist with a score of 85.
