1986 - Redfield, led by Jim Bruce with 15 points and Mark Schaffer with 13 points, claimed the District 1A basketball title with a 55-41 win over Aberdeen Roncalli.
1991 - Northern State's men's basketball team won its district playoff opener against Minot State, 109-63. Sarge Grimes finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Wolves.
1996 - Wayde Whelan, Matt Strong and Todd Robinson each had three goals to lead Northern State's hockey team to an 11-2 rout over Drake University in the championship game of the Great Plains Collegiate Hockey Association tournament at the Holum Expo Building.
2001 - Joseph Forte scored 28 points and Brendan Haywood added 20 as ninth-ranked Virginia handed No. 2 North Carolina an 86-66 setback in college men's basketball.
2006 - Sara Jensen scored 18 points to lead four Wolves in double figures as Northern State handed Wayne State its first NSIC loss of the season, beating the Wildcats 72-69. Noelle Hall added 16 points for NSU, Miranda Boepple scored 11 and Carolin Becker finished with 10.
2010 - Sheilah Pond and Kristin Pistorius scored 12 points each to lead Sisseton (21-1) to a 51-36 victory over Milbank in the District 2A high school girls' basketball tournament championship game.
