Anaheim Stadium, known as the "Big A," is seen at full capacity on the day of its opening as the California Angels host the San Francisco Giants in an exhibition game on April 9, 1966. Willie Mays hit the first home run in the stadium that day. The 230-foot-high letter "A," with a halo at its top, in left field served as a scoreboard support. Today, it is in the parking lot and the Angels light the halo on it after every victory.
