Dodgers and Angels tie, 7-7

AT THE PLATE: Albert Pujols got his first extra-base hit of the spring, a mammoth home run off Dodgers starter Brett Anderson. “He did what all good hitters should do with a fastball down the middle,” Anderson said. “Hit it about 500 feet.” Pujols is batting .357 this spring. For the Dodgers, Alex Guerrero hit a three-run home run, lifting his batting average to .400. Guerrero appears to be hitting his way onto the roster as a utility player; he made his first spring start at shortstop Thursday and has played extensively at third base and left field. Angels outfielder Kole Calhoun had three hits, lifting his average to .357.

ON THE MOUND: Anderson and Angels starter Andrew Heaney each gave up seven hits, but Anderson did not survive the second inning. Heaney worked 3 1/3 innings and gave up six runs. His competition for the Angels’ No. 5 spot, Nick Tropeano, gave up six runs in four innings in a B game against the Chicago Cubs.

EXTRA BASES: Mike Trout is batting .500 this spring, with a 1.000 slugging percentage. … Angels reliever Joe Smith boarded the team bus without his jersey and had to wear No. 71. He pitched one inning and struck out the side. … The Dodgers this spring have more ties (six) than stolen bases (four).
