AT THE PLATE: The center fielders put on a power show, Joc Pederson of the Dodgers crushing his fifth home run of the spring to deep left-center field in the second inning and Mike Trout of the Angels driving his fourth homer well beyond the wall in left-center in the fifth. Angels left fielder Matt Joyce, a career .189 hitter against left-handers, had a double and single off Dodgers left-hander David Huff, increasing his chances of getting more at-bats against left-handers this season. “It’s encouraging to see,” Manager Mike Scioscia said. “Hopefully he’ll bring this comfort level into the season.” Alex Guerrero of the Dodgers and Erick Aybar of the Angels also hit solo homers.

ON THE MOUND: Angels starter Matt Shoemaker gave up four runs and five hits, including two homers, in six innings, striking out two and walking two, throwing 80 pitches in 97-degree heat. Left-hander Jose Alvarez, in the running for a bullpen spot, threw a scoreless inning, and closer Huston Street gave up one run and two hits in the eighth. Huff allowed one run and six hits in 3 1/3 innings.

EXTRA BASES: Zack Greinke will make his final start of the spring in a minor league game Wednesday — instead of in the Freeway Series on Thursday — so the Dodgers can better control the right-hander’s workload. … Angels left-hander Hector Santiago will pitch in a minor league game Monday. … Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun returned after missing two games because of a bruised right triceps and made a nice catch of a Yasmani Grandal drive to the gap after a long run in the fourth. … Angels third baseman David Freese, out since Wednesday because of a hyperextended left elbow, is expected to play Sunday. … The Angels optioned reliever Cam Bedrosian to triple-A and reassigned left-hander Adam Wilk to minor league camp.
